Invisalign. What is it really, and how does it work?

You've probably heard of Invisalign before in passing, or seen it on a billboard or the back of a bus somewhere.

So what is it and how does it work? Invisalign is a series of clear aligners which slowly move displaced teeth into position almost invisibly and without braces! They work by gently placing pressure on the teeth. This pressure over a series of two weeks moves the teeth slightly. Then after two weeks another aligner is placed which then moves the teeth slightly more again. This process continues gradually through a series of aligners until the teeth have moved into the desired position. The aligners are manufactured using a high-tech 3D computer program which calculates tooth movement.

The great thing about Invisalign is, not only that it's virtually invisible, but also removable. This means that when eating, drinking and cleaning your teeth, life becomes a lot easier.

Whilst the majority of people with slight crookedness could benefit from Invisalign, it is not suitable for everybody. It works best in people whose teeth have spaces between them or some crowding/overlap. It also works fantastically to correct those teeth which may have shifted after previous braces or orthodontics.
